HOW IT HAPPENED
- Friday’s game featured a pitching duel between Pardo and Neve Stearns, which began with 3.5 innings of scoreless ball and just three total hits.
- The first run of the game occurred in the bottom of the fourth when Middlebury’s Erin Giles hit a solo home run to left center, before Wesleyan retired the next two batters.
- Down by one entering the top of the seventh, Amanda Roosa ’16 led off with a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Rielly Wieners ’17. Following a throwing error on a fielder’s choice by the Panthers, runners stood at second and third with one out. Angelina Massoia ’16 singled to center field on the next at bat to bring home Roosa, tying the game at 1-1. Pardo than doubled to center field for what proved to be the game-winning hit as Massoia crossed home plate.
- Pardo sealed the victory in the bottom half of the inning as she retired the side.
