CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second-straight game Brown women's lacrosse
outshot its opponent, but it was Harvard that was able to pick up a 8-2
win in an Ivy League game at Harvard Stadium on Saturday.
In a low scoring first half, Harvard (7-3, 3-1 Ivy League) headed into
the break with a 2-0 lead, scoring early in the period and then at the
closing. The Crimson received scores from Audrey Todd (25:35) and Julia
Glynn (0:05).
The Bears (4-7, 0-4 Ivy League) recorded a 12-10 advantage in shots in
the opening period and
posted four draw control wins while Harvard had
zero.
Both teams traded possessions in the second half until Harvard scored
first at 15:21 from Alexis Nicolia, giving the Crimson a 3-0 lead.
Nicolia followed with her second-straight goal at 11:40.
Junior Jillian Lee (Cold Springs Harbor, N.Y.) got Brown on the board at 5:43 with her 11th goal of the year, bringing the score to 4-1.
Harvard responded soon after to establish its lead once again (5-1) with Todd scoring her second tally of the game at 5:03.
Freshman Hafsa Moinuddin
(Cheshire, Conn.) scored her ninth goal of the season at 4:45 following
a Brown draw control. With the goal, Moinuddin extends her point-streak
to seven-straight games.
The Crimson then scored three-straight en route to the final score of 8-2.
Senior Victoria Holland (Huntington, N.Y.) concluded the game with five saves while Kelly Weis of Harvard had seven stops.
Brown finished the game with a 9-3 advantage in draw controls, with freshman Alex O'Donnell
(Moorestown, N.J.) winning four, and outshot the Crimson 19-18. The
Bears were 0-for-4 in free position shots while Harvard did not take a
free position shot. Both teams were successful at a high rate clearing
the ball; Brown going 10-for-11 while Harvard was 17-for-18.
The Bears will next play at UMass Lowell on Tuesday, April 12 for a non-conference game starting at 6:00 p.m.
