Antje Duvekot is one of the brightest singer-songwriters to rise out of Boston's ultra-competitive acoustic music scene. For years, Duvekot's songs have been critically praised for their hard-won wisdom, dark-eyed realism, and street-smart romanticism. Fans will find all of that in her latest release "New Siberia," but also a mature sense of hope, growth, renewal, and love.

Blending uncommonly beautiful vocals with one of the sharpest poetic sensibilities in her field, Duvekot has a remarkable ability to make us believe she is whispering secrets in our ear, and we know that she believes every word she sings. "New Siberia," produced by folk legend Richard Shindell, is a masterpiece of the modern folk genre. "Musically, I think I am in the strongest place I've ever been," says Duvekot.

Come celebrate the winter solstice with Antje Duvekot at the very special intimate listening room that is Sandywoods!

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15th - TONY FURTADO & LUKE PRICE
7 pm, doors open 6:30 pm
BYOB & BYOF (food)
$12 advance, $15 at the door

Tony Furtado, a two-time National Bluegrass Banjo Champion and master of the slide guitar as well, will perform at Sandywoods, joined by two-time National Fiddle Champion and multi-instrumentalist Luke Price.

Tony Furtado is an indie record label’s dream artist. He has lived primarily on the road for the last two decades. He is gregarious, engaging and entertaining, on and off stage. He’s been called a genius on banjo and slide guitar, and his own creative hybrid of Americana and indie folk/rock is engaging and captivating. Furtado has often been compared to Ry Cooder and Paul Simon in his latest albums as he guides his attention to detail and proclivity for traditional music into the pop framework. Onstage, whether playing with a band or solo, he owns the room, mixing stories of his travels with musicianship that is off the charts.

Luke Price is a talented young multi-instrumentalist known for his great balance of taste, rhythm, and technical ability. He is known for pushing genres, styles, and fellow musicians into new territory while delicately respecting the great musical traditions that have come before. He has won a long list of awards at fiddling contests all across the country. While he continues to carry on traditional fiddling, he has also deftly expanded his playing to many other styles, including jazz, soul, blues, funk, bluegrass, and pop.
