In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office.
Later in the morning, the President will deliver a statement on the bipartisan agreement to reopen our government, remove the threat of default from our economy and address the need for both sides to work together to grow our economy, create jobs and strengthen the middle class.
Later, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic Enrico Letta. The meeting will highlight the strength of the U.S.-Italy relationship, among the strongest bonds tying together the United States and Europe. The President and Prime Minister Letta will discuss promoting economic growth and new jobs, their support for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, cooperation within NATO, shared challenges in North Africa and the Middle East, and other topics of mutual interest. The Vice President will also attend.
In the afternoon, the President will hold a working lunch with Prime Minister Letta. The Vice President will also attend.
