Kirsti Hussey Named Women’s Hockey Assistant Coach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's ice hockey head coach Bob Kenneally announced the hiring of Kirsti Hussey as an assistant coach to the program on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Hussey comes to Brown after spending the last three seasons as head coach of the girls' ice hockey team for St. Mark's School, in addition to being an Assistant Athletic Director. As the head coach, Hussey was responsible for player instruction and development, creating and running the strength and conditioning program, developing and implementing the overall recruiting strategy and handling administrative responsibilities associated with the program operations, including recruiting logistics and planning, team travel details and equipment ordering.

"The opportunity to hire coach Hussey was extremely fortunate for myself and our program," said
Kenneally. "She brings a wealth of experience as well as distinct knowledge of New England Prep School hockey. I am proud to have her on my staff."

Before arriving at St. Mark's, Hussey held previous assistant coaching positions at the University of Connecticut (2009-12) and Hamilton College (2007-09).

In addition to her college coaching experience, Hussey worked USA Hockey Girls' Development Camps from 2009-2015. She started as an intern coach and developed into a co-head coach, head coach, assistant on-ice director and on-ice skills coach and evaluator.

As a collegiate player, Hussey began her career at Bowdoin College (2001-03) where she guided Polar Bears to two NCAA Final Fours while being named First Team All-American, NESCAC First Team and Rookie of the Year. She also tied for first in Division III defenseman scoring. Hussey finished up her collegiate career at Dartmouth (2003-05) where she again led her team to back-to-back NCAA Final Four appearances, while this time ranking 17th in Division I defenseman scoring.

Before moving on to coaching, Hussey played for the Oakville Ice and the Ottawa Raiders of the National Women's Hockey League from 2005-07.

Hussey graduated from Dartmouth in 2005 with a degree in Biological Sciences.
