LACE HITS .485 AND KNOCKS DOWN 19 WINNERS IN, 3-0, LITTLE EAST WIN OVER CORSAIRS

Providence, R.I.—Senior outside hitter Kelsey Lace (Glendale, RI) hit .485 (19-3-33) to go along with 19 kills, five service aces and nine digs as Rhode Island College swept UMass Dartmouth, 3-0, in Little East Conference women’s volleyball action played at The Murray Center on Tuesday night.
 
RIC (14-7, 2-2 LEC) dominated the first set, 25-4, and hit .750 (12-0-16), but had to come from behind to squeak out a 26-24 victory in the middle frame. The hosts regrouped in the final set, winning, 25-13, to even their league mark at .500.
 
Senior outside hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) also had a strong showing, hitting .350 (10-3-20), while contributing 10 kills, five service aces and five digs. Freshman outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) chipped in with four kills and five digs, while sophomore setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) handed out a match-high 27 assists.

UMD (9-14, 1-3 LEC) was led by senior opposite hitter Kayla Kirby (Westport, MA) with four kills. Senior libero senior libero Brianna Perry (Acushnet, MA) registered 10 digs.
 
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Worcester State on Thursday, Oct. 15 (7 p.m.).
