BSU junior goaltender Lauren DeSousa (Taunton, Mass.) equaled a program record with her fourth straight shutout. DeSousa, who extended her scoreless streak to 496 minutes, made nine saves on the day to lower goals against average to an impressive 0.60. The shutout marked her 11th in a BSU uniform.
Salve Regina junior Morgan McBrier (North Kingstown, R.I.) saw her first action in goal this season, registering 12 saves.
The Bears outshot the Seahawks, 19-12, with 11 shots coming in the second half. Bridgewater, however, continues to struggle to put the ball in the net. The Bears have scored only one goal in six games (600 minutes) this season.
Salve Regina earned ten corner kick opportunities to Bridgewater State's three. The Seahawks had a corner kick in each overtime period, the final one producing a shot from freshman Kayla McLaughlin (East Hampton, Conn.) that glanced off the crossbar.
BSU freshman Alana Vincent (Taunton, Mass.) led all player with five shots including four on goal.
Salve Regina earns its first draw of the year as the Seahawks are now 4-3-1 overall. Bridgewater State sees its record go to 1-2-3. The Bears still dominate the all-time series between the two teams, 18-3-1.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday at noon with conference games. The Bears host Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) foe Mass. Maritime Academy, while the Seahawks travel to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Wentworth.
