NBC SPORTS PRESENTS BIRDS OF PREY ALPINE SKIING COVERAGE FROM BEAVER CREEK THIS WEEKEND ACROSS NBC, NBCSN AND PEACOCK

Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Ted Ligety to Serve as Analyst for Birds of Prey

Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist and Six-Time World Champion Mikaela Shiffrin to Headline U.S. Women’s Ski Team Competing in Super-G and Downhill Events Friday-Sunday in Lake Louise, Canada, on Peacock

Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing Coverage from Steamboat, Colo., Presented Saturday on NBCSN and Peacock

STAMFORD, Conn. – Dec. 1, 2021 – The acclaimed Birds of Prey men’s Super-G and downhill races will be presented this Thursday-Sunday across NBC, NBCSN and Peacock from Beaver Creek, Colo, while two-time Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety serves as an analyst during NBC Sports’ coverage. Super-G coverage from Beaver Creek begins Thursday at 1:45 p.m. ET on

Peacock, with an encore presented later in the evening at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Super-G coverage will continue Friday at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Saturday’s downhill coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET on NBCSN. An encore presentation will be presented at 5 p.m. ET on NBC. The final downhill event of the weekend will be contested Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on Peacock, followed by an encore at 4 p.m. ET on NBC.

The U.S. Ski Team at Beaver Creek is expected to be led by Olympians Bryce Bennett, Steven Nyman, Travis Ganong, and Ryan Cochran-Siegle. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Matthias Mayer from Austria is also expected to contend for the podium this week.

NBC Sports’ play-by-play commentator Dan Hicks will call Birds of Prey coverage Friday-Sunday with Ligety and former U.S. ski team racer Steve Porino serving as analysts, and Heather Cox as reporter. Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and two-time Olympic medalist Andrew Weibrecht (analyst) will call Thursday’s Super-G event.

On the women’s side, two-time Olympic gold medalist and the winningest slalom skier in World Cup history Mikaela Shiffrin headlines U.S. Ski Team contenders competing in Super-G and downhill events Friday-Sunday in Lake Louise, Canada. Shiffrin, ‘the Queen of Killington,’ won her fifth straight slalom race at the Vermont circuit last weekend. The victory ties Shiffrin with Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden for the most wins by a skier in a single discipline (46). U.S. Ski teammate and 2018 Olympian Breezy Johnson is expected to race alongside Shiffrin this weekend.

Steamboat, Colo., will host snowboarding and freestyle skiing events this Saturday on NBCSN and Peacock. NBC Sports’ Todd Harris (play-by-play), former U.S. Olympian Todd Richards (analyst), World Cup freestyle gold medalist Tom Wallisch, and former professional snowboarder Tina Dixon (reporter) will call the action.

NBC Sports will present nearly 70 hours of U.S. Ski and Snowboard coverage this season, including this weekend’s Super-G and downhill events from Beaver Creek and snowboarding and freestyle skiing events from Steamboat. Additional season coverage will be highlighted by events in Copper, Colo., Mammoth, Calif., and Deer Valley, Utah, across alpine skiing, snowboarding, and freestyle skiing competition.
