How It Happened
The Hawks and Nor'easters started off the match with a back and forth battle. As the score was tied at 9-9, Katherine Pickard (St. Petersburg, Fla.) came into serve which resulted in the Hawks going on an 8-0 run. The Nor'easters battled back but ultimately the game was in the Hawks' favor as they would come out with the 25-17 win.

The second set started off close for RWU and UNE until the two teams were tied up at 3-3. With the score at 9-5 in RWU's favor, Tori Melanson (North Attleboro, Mass.) served for seven straight points for the Hawks where they were virtually unstoppable. UNE took a time out to try and fire up their offense, but it was the Hawks all the way as they maintained their dominance all over the court. Roger Williams took the win for the second set with the score 25-11.

An early four-point run for UNE gave them the lead to begin the third set. Stephanie Erickson (Cumberland, R.I.) started off strong with a kill and a block assist to give the Nor'Easters the momentum. Roger Williams was not going to go down with a fight. Kate Porter (Killingworth, Conn.) assisted Melanson on a kill to start the Hawks' offensive run that led them to a 10-6 advantage. For the rest of the set, Roger Williams never lost the lead and ultimately took the 25-16 win.
