Freshman Risa Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.) led all scorers with seven points on five goals and two assists while junior Hafsa Moinuddin (Cheshire, Conn.) (4G, 2A), junior Caroline Zaffino (Darien, Conn.) (3G, 1A), senior Carolyn Paletta (Greenwich, Conn.) (3G) and freshman Maggie Fowler (Bethesda, Md.) (1G, 2A) generated multi-point efforts.
Louisville opened with two goals at 22:10 (Tessa Chad) and 20:27 (Emily Howell) to take a 2-0 lead.
Brown was quick to respond and tied the contest with goals eight seconds apart, the first from Mosentahl at 19:58 (free position), and the second from Moinuddin at 19:50.
After the Cardinals' first two goals, the Brown defense held Louisville without a score for over nine minutes while the offense built a 4-2 lead when Mosenthal (15:58) and Moinuddin (11:40) each scored their second tallies of the day.
Three straight free-position goals would follow with Madison Hoover (7:15), Paletta (8:46) and Julia Wood (7:15) putting in the goals to move the game to 5-4 in favor of Brown.
Paletta would notch her second of the day at 3:02, with the sophomore Emily Fryer (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) recording her first collegiate point on the assist, and Fowler added a goal at 2:34 to push the Bears lead to three (7-4). The Cardinals would close out the half with two from Hoover (1:46, 1:06) to pull within one (7-6).
Brown outshot Louisville, 15-14, and also held the edge in draw controls, 8-6. The Cardinals benefited from free positions in the frame, successful in 4-of-6, while the Bears were 2-for-3.
Moinuddin (27:35) and Mosenthal (26:59) again went one-two to begin the second for a 9-6 Bear advantage. Louisville's leading scorer Caroline Blalock finally got on the board at 25:08, after being contained the Brown's defense, and put the game within two. Zaffino (24:41) and the Cardinals (21:35) traded goals before Paletta scored her second at 19:44 and Moinuddin completed the hat trick at 17:43 to give Brown a 12-8 lead.
Mosenthal (13:54) split up two Louisville goals (15:07, 12:07) and then the Bears further secured the game with four straight. Mosenthal started the decisive run at 11:38 while freshman Mason Warble (Bronxville, N.Y.) got on the board at 10:48. Zaffino concluded the scoring with a pair at 9:17 and 6:25.
Brown again outshot Louisville in the second, 20-14, and controlled the draws at 11-4. Sophomore Maggie Bigelow (Montclair, N.J.) was solid in net for the Bears and ended the day with 10 saves for her third-straight game with double digit saves. Lexie Ball also reached double figures for saves on the other end with 11 stops.
On the defensive side, junior Olivia Lee (Bethesda, Md.) contributed three caused turnovers while senior Bri Irons (Wallingford, Pa.) and junior Zoe Verni (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) each added two.
The Bears will next play in their last non-conference game of the season on Saturday, March 31 and travel to Sacred Heart for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
