Written by Kristen Habbel, Athletic Communications Intern

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team posted a 10-5 non-conference decision over Eastern Connecticut State Tuesday afternoon.

The game was going the Hawks' way immediately from the start, when Eastern Connecticut State got called for a delay of game due to a broken stick, giving the Hawks possession right away. Freshman Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) scored the first goal of the game within the first five minutes. Not too long after, ECSU answered and tied the game with a goal from Jake Liebowitz (Trumbull, Conn.) and assisted by Connor Wyllie (Somers, Conn.), which would be the final Warriors goal for the first half. The Hawks tallied two more goals in the first quarter from Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.), assisted by Brandon Fabel (East Rockaway, N.Y.), and an unassisted goal by Mullane to finish out the first quarter.

The Hawks dominated the second half, as they grew their lead with a 4-0 run. At the 9:23 mark, Peter Navarro (Londonderry, N.H.) found the back of the net. Shortly after, Grier scored his second goal of the game off of a pass from Andrew Gaffney (Cherry Valley, Mass.). Gaffney made another big play by tallying another Hawk goal from his freshman counterpart, Mullane. Mullane then scored his third goal of the evening off of an assist from Harrison Levesque (Ridgefield, Conn.), with under a minute to go in the half.

The Warriors tried cutting down the deficit as they tallied two quick goals from Samuel Watson (Trumbull, Conn.) and Brett Chin (Framingham, Mass.) early in the third quarter. However, the Hawks grew their lead again when Gabe Reale (Fairfield, Conn.) found the back of the net with about a minute to go in the third.

The final quarter started to get exciting as Harrison Urda (Milford, N.H.) came up big for the Warriors and tallied two goals to cut the Hawks' lead down to just three goals. Roger Williams responded when the young freshman Mullane scored his fourth and final goal of the night. The Hawks ended the game with a final goal by Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) off of a stellar pass from Brian Brockwell (Duxbury, Mass.).

Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine) made a total of eight saves for the RWU win. Defenseman Shawn Errasti (Duxbury, Mass.) tallied ten ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Brockwell added four caused turnovers and two ground balls. Mullane led the Hawks with five points off of four goals and one assist. Grier added two goals as well.

Chris Gorman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had five saves in the Warriors' loss. Trevor Ross (Stratford, Conn.) contributed by causing three turnovers and picking up two ground balls. On the offensive end, Urda led his team with two goals. Anthony Choronzy (Clinton, Conn.) and Connor Hillemeir (Farmington, Conn.) picked up five ground balls, respectively.

Roger Williams (4-3) will head to Boston on Saturday to take on Wentworth. Eastern Connecticut State (3-4) will play again on Tuesday as they head down to Mount Ida.
