THE 20th SEASON

The Brown University equestrian program is celebrating its 20th season as a varsity program during the 2015-16 academic year. Head coach Michaela Scanlon has served as the leader of the program in every year of its existence, taking the reins in 1996. Under her tutelage, Brown has captured 11 Region One titles, five Zone Reserve titles, one Zone championship, and six Ivy League titles.

FAMILY FUN
Brown's equestrian show provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy a fall Saturday in New England in a bucolic setting. Spectators will have the chance to watch skilled and novice riders perform on an array of horses. The team also plans to have a Brown a capella group sing the national anthem to kick off the show.

LAST WEEKEND
The Bears were set to open the 2015-16 season at the Johnson & Wales IHSA Show on Oct. 3, but inclement weather forced the postponement of the event to Nov. 21. Brown will now host the IHSA Zone 1 Region 1 season opener.

THE CAPTAINS
Seniors Alisa Berg (St. Louis, Mo.) and Elena Buchsbaum (Madison, N.J.) as well as junior Kabisa Baughen (Sarasota, Fla.) will act as captains for the Bears this season. Berg and Buchsbaum each captained the Bears last year while qualifying for Zone 1 Region 1 Regionals and earning Academic All-Ivy Show honors. As a freshman, Baughen competed at the IHSA National Championships.
