RIC HOLDS SIX-SHOT LEAD AFTER DAY ONE AT 2015 GNAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

North Dartmouth, Mass.—Rhode Island College holds a six-shot lead after the first round of action at the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Championship played at Allendale Country Club.
 
RIC, which has won the past four league titles, fired a 313, while Worcester State is in second place (319). UMass Dartmouth (321), Johnson & Wales (324), St. Joseph's, ME (330), Southern Maine (334), Emmanuel (351), Suffolk (351) and Albertus Magnus (285) rounds out the nine-team field.
 
 
 Sophomore Drew Quirk
 
Junior Steven Letterle (Cranston, RI), freshman Tom Sheran (Marston Mills, MA) and sophomore Drew Quirk (Longmeadow, MA) are all tied for first overall with identical scores of 78.
 
Senior Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) is tied for eighth with a score of 79. Senior Peter Camerlengo (Pembroke, MA) is 25th overall with an 85.
 
The second and final round was this morning. The winner gains an automatic berth into the NCAA Div. III Men's Golf National Championships, which are played in May.
