PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Boston College's
Mohammed Moro scored in the 16th minute to lead the Eagles past the
Brown men's soccer team, 1-0, in Tuesday night's non-conference matchup
at Stevenson Field.
Boston College improves to 7-3-1 overall while the Bears drop to 5-4 on the season.
Boston College notched the lone tally of
the contest at 15:45. Simon Enstrom moved down the left flank before
passing off to Moro, who had his initial shot blocked, but quickly
rifled home the rebound to give the visitors the early lead.
BC outshot the Bears in the first half, 6-5.
Brown roared back in the second period with 12 shots, including five on target with several solid chances down the stretch.
After a pair of early attempts from Matthew Chow (Vancouver, British Columbia) and Will Cross
(Nashville, Tenn.), Brown's best chance came late in the stanza with
just under six minutes remaining. Chow blasted a shot from the top of
the box that was turned away by BC keeper Alex Kapp with a rebound in
front, but Jack Hagstrom (Middleton, Wis.) followed with a shot that sailed just high over the crossbar.
Brown kept up the attack during the final minutes of the contest, but Kapp corralled a header by Cross and Nate Pomeroy (Groton, Mass.) sent a shot just wide, as BC staved off the late bid and sealed the win.
Brown recorded 13 corner kicks to just one from the Eagles. Brown also outshot BC, 17-13.
