Henry Homers Twice in Brown University Baseball’s Loss to UMass Lowell, 9-8

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Rob Henry (Cranston, R.I.) hit a pair of home runs to help the Brown baseball team stage a comeback, but the Bears were edged by UMass Lowell, 9-8, in Tuesday's midweek contest at Murray Stadium.

Brown (11-19) had eight hits, while the River Hawks had nine hits to pull even at 16-16 overall.

Henry's two homers gave him four RBIs in addition to one walk, while senior Tim McKeithan (Arden, N.C.) went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Collin Duffley picked up the win in relief and Samuel Hauser (New York, N.Y.) took the loss for the Bears.

After UMass Lowell opened with a three-run first inning, the Bears scored one in the bottom of the
second. Noah Shulman (Merrick, N.Y.) had a one-out double and later scored on Brian Ginsberg's (Calabasas, Calif.) single to right field.

UMass Lowell added two more runs in the third for the four-run lead, until the bottom of the fifth, when the Bears scored three runs. After Henry hit a solo shot, Kevin Guthrie (Sarasota, Fla.) smacked an RBI triple and then crossed the plate on a groundout.

The River Hawks responded with four runs on three hits in the sixth, but the home side continued to battle with three more runs in the bottom half as Henry drilled a three-run homer over the left field fence.

The Brown bullpen kept the visitors off the board during the final three innings, and the offense scored one run on a sacrifice bunt in the eighth, but UML's Brendan Long pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the save.

Brown returns to Ivy League play this weekend with a four-game series at Harvard.
