Bears Run Win Streak to Four in Ft. Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Reed Jenkins had three hits including a three-run double to highlight a six run eighth leading Coast Guard to its fourth straight win a 12-5 victory over Lakeland at the Gene Cusic Classic.

Jenkins had a pair of doubles and drove in four runs and scored a pair while Jake Behne had a pair of hits and Luke Thompson drove in three runs for the Bears.

Connor Glynn (2-0) picked up his second win of the season in relief as he worked 2 1/3 innings allowing three hits and no earned runs while fanning two. Dan Finn worked the final two innings allowing just one hit to record his first career save.

The Bears took a 3-1 lead in the second on an RBI double by Jenkins and a two-run single by Thompson.

Coast Guard led 4-3 in the sixth when the Bears got sacrifice flies by Nolan Johnson and Thompson to push the lead to 6-3.

Lakeland cut the deficit to 6-5 in the seventh before the Bears huge eighth inning put the game away.

In the eighth, Will Stephens drew a bases loaded walk, Jon Pressley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Behne delivered a sacrifice fly before Jenkins ripped the bases clearing double  to right.
