"We are very excited to have tied the program record on vault today," Brown head coach Sara Carver-Milne said. "All six of our gymnasts performed very well on that event, which is a good sign as we prepare for our final meets of the season."
As a team, the Bears matched their program record on vault with their 48.750 as their top event for the day. Brown also scored a 48.425 on floor, 47.375 on beam, and 46.900 on bars.
In the team standings, host Maryland won the meet with a 196.525, the Penn Quakers placed second with a 195.075, the SCSU Owls came in third with a 192.700, and Brown finished fourth with a 191.450.
Freshman Sophia Petrillo (Stoneham, Mass.) placed third in the all-around with a career-high 38.500.
As part of Brown's record-tying effort on vault, senior Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) and freshman Mei Li Costa (Lawrenceville, N.J.) each scored a 9.775, matching a career high for Green. Sophomore Kate Nelson (Montara, Calif.) tallied a 9.750, and senior Gabrielle Hechtman (Bellmore, N.Y.) and sophomore Alyssa Gardner (Angola, N.Y.) each posted a 9.725, marking a season high for Gardner.
On floor, Green led the Bears with a 9.825, finishing in fourth place on the event while Petrillo registered a career-best 9.800. Sophomore Emma Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) notched a 9.625, sophomore Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah) scored a 9.600, and Gardner added a 9.575.
Green also paced Brown on beam, scoring a 9.650, and Petrillo notched a 9.575. Senior Cassidy Jung (San Marino, Calif.), Hansen, and senior Morgan Hagenbuch (Norwich, N.Y.) tallied a 9.550, 9.400, and 9.200 respectively.
On bars, Nelson registered a team-high 9.675 while Petrillo scored a 9.575. Gardner and Costa posted a 9.375 and 9.225 apiece.
Next, Brown hosts Bridgeport and Temple for Senior Day on Sunday, Mar. 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
